The long hockey season

Like any team the buffalo sabers’ play 82 games. If you think long and hard about it this is very lengthy. Some men such as Jason Pominville have gone 200 consecutive games not injured. During his career Doug Jarvis played in 964 straight games from October 08, 1975 to October 10, 1987, setting the record for the NHL's longest consecutive games played streak. That’s called having a stroke of luck. There are so many different things that could affect how many games a player could play. Injuries are the brunt of this. With so many ways to get injured in the sport many men do not make it 82 games without missing at least one. But if you do manage to make all of these games there still is the mental wearing. You need to have a strong mental mind to be able to push yourself through the long season. As you graduate from a rookie the road becomes easier and you build up a tolerance to all of the flying and travel.

  3. Many more injuries in the NHL this year and I am happy that the league is starting to protect their players. They are finally giving suspensions to some guys that may have gotten away with these hits a couple of years ago.
